"Using the Mandy Gill APP holds me accountable" - Chelsea's Journey
Hi! My name is Chelsea and I’m very excited to share with you a bit about my weight loss journey and how it impacts my life now. It’s been one year since I really committed to my health and started this journey to a healthier me. Everyday I need to remind myself that where am I now wasn’t easy but it’s worth it because I’m worth it. It doesn't matter where I am or what’s going on in my life, I need to focus on two things, diet and exercise. I worked very closely with a naturopath to achieve my weight loss, I counted calories, different methods work for different people.
I feel like my whole life I’ve identified with being “bigger”, I was always fit, I played sports and worked out, but my diet was very poor. I’d not eat, or binge eat, there was no in between. I’d emotionally eat, when I was happy or sad, so there was no middle ground there either. I’d associate every event (Thanksgiving, Christmas) with food, instead of it being about the actual event. Now that my diet is in order, I’m able to enjoy family events and also acknowledge my emotions without fuelling them with food.
I’m in Cardiff, Wales right now visiting my boyfriend and I’m so thankful for the Mandy Gill APP because it’s providing me with some “at home” workouts and the fact that you have to “check in” with the app, it holds you accountable.
When you’re in a new country or area you can easily slip back into old habits because you don’t have a “local gym” or you’re not familiar with the area. For example, I’m obviously unable to drive here, the cars are on the wrong side of the road after all! So the ability to workout from home as been crucial for my continued health. No excuses!
The diet part is a lot easier than I thought, you just need to be prepared. I’m a plant-based eater so my diet involves a lot of fresh produce. There’s fresh produce on nearly every corner in my area. My biggest tip for anyone wanting results is to be prepared for your hunger. Don’t wait until you’re hungry to eat. Have some cut up veggies or a handful of almonds at the ready. I always made my worst decisions when I was already hungry.
I’m down roughly 80 pounds (it fluctuates) since October 2017 and I want to keep it that way. I’ve stopped weighing myself everyday, and moved to once a week. Some people are scared to weigh themselves but I find that it’s a real number and I can hold myself accountable to that number. It doesn't scare me. The tricky thing is, in the UK they have a different measurement of weight. I weighed myself for the first time here and read that I was (x) amount of “stone”. That was confusing enough, so I won’t be weighing myself for the duration of this visit! FYI a “stone” is 14 pounds, still confusing though.
Working out everyday is the most important part of the equation for me, especially heading into the winter because it’s what keeps my mental health in check. This is what brings me back to the Mandy Gill APP because you can ALWAYS find time in your day at home, morning or night, to get a quick workout in that will benefit your physical and mental health.
Your first week is free on the APP (until November 15th), so register NOW and see what I’m talking about. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
